#3. Pineapple and Carrot Juice

Review: For only two ingredients, this packed a wallop of flavor. You can't really ever go wrong with pineapple. We preferred this sweet drink served cold. Sooo yummy.

I Just Can't Take it Any Longer! (Genesis: Chapter 16)

Have you ever been so impatient for something that you become willing to settle for a different, yet instant, thing altogether?  Cody loves to cook. He finds enjoyment in making fancy meals that take hours of preparation. My mouth starts watering Saturday morning, as he describes what he has in mind for  our dinner. My tummy starts growling as he gathers the ingredients. My eyes start watching the clock as he chops, dices and stirs. By the time the aromas loft their way in exploration of our home, I am just too hungry too wait a minute longer. Thirty minutes before his masterpiece is ready, I will begin to nibble in the kitchen. One handful of M&Ms here, a scoop of peanut butter there, one chip, two chips, this is my last one chip...before I know it dinner is ready, but I am full. I settle for something immediate and mediocre when he had planned to serve me something wonderful and satisfying. Similar to Cody, God has great plans of what He wants to g...

They ask me: "How do you like being a mom?" Here's my answer.

The most common question I am asked is, "How do you like being a Mom?" At first I would flounder through a hodge podge answer that was not only longer than they ever cared to hear, but nearly incomprehensible and completely contradictory. Soon I settled for, "It's amazing," which is true, and also, really all they wanted to hear. That isn't the whole truth though. I am blessed to stay at home with my child. I wouldn't trade it for anything. With that said, it is no easy task. Taking care of, in my case, two infants under five months old, is like juggling too many fragile objects in a small room where all noises are loud and all surfaces gooey. People may not understand what I mean by, "Sometimes I mentally scream, in my head," that is, until they have done it themselves. This article is what I wish I could convey to others in a neat, short response. Unfortunately, as a stay-at-home mom, nothing stays neat.  The Real Stor...

How to make eating healthy fun!

Come the winter months, it gets easier to spend our days nestled in our homes next to the heater. We find ourselves watching more t.v. than usual and snacking on yummy seasonal treats. Don't forget the warm frothy drinks that are a must when the weather gets chilly! Although I love it all, I have a feeling come the bikini wearing months I will deeply regret these high calorie decisions.  Eating healthy doesn't have to be a drag. It just means trading out the processed and sugary food for natural and fresh options. I find that the first things I must do is go to the grocery store and stalk my fridge with a variety of fresh fruit and veggies. Make it fun! One way to do just that is through smoothies and homemade juices. Conveniently,  my friend Sarah just so happens to have a juicer. Along with this powerful machine of juicing goodness, came a booklet of recipes.  New year's day passed by without bothering to assign me a resolution, so come January 13th, Sarah ...

#2. Berry Surprise Muffins

Review: Where as these muffins look appealing, they tasted, well, blah. First of all, there was a typo in the recipe, so we aren't sure if there is supposed to be oil added or not. Secondly, we used wheat flour, which gave it a bland, biscuit like flavor and texture. Ya win some and ya lose some I guess.

#1. Carrot, Apple & Ginger

Review: This was a very tasty juice. I usually don't like the flavor of ginger but in this combination, it wasn't overpowering. I am excited to try this concoction on morning sickness the next go round of pregnancy-ginger is supposed to help!

Hello 2014

Not to brag, but we really stepped up our game this New Years. Our friends, Sarah and Brolin, let us join them and friends in their New Years tradition: wakeboarding! Although I am fairly certain the bacteria from the Willamette gave me a sinus infection the next day, it ROCKED.  We are thankful to start off 2014 surrounded by amazing friends and family in our lives. Cheers to the next 365 days- I can't wait to see what lies ahead!
