Crafts for Baby Easton

Throughout my pregnancy, as my excitement grew to meet little baby Easton, I started passing by the time with many small baby crafts.

The first items I made were baby burp rags. My lovely friend Renee happened to have scrap material that was soft and cozy, so I used those bits and in a quilting fashion made a small little spit catcher. I am guessing these are too small to drape over your shoulder and get the job done, but they were fun to make. Who knows, maybe they will come in handy at some point!

For Codys birthday we had our 20 week ultrasound. To follow the theme, I wanted to make something dad/baby incorporated for his gift. I bought white generic onesies at Walmart and began to embroider. This is a very fun craft because onesies are a blank canvas and there is no pattern required.

My father-in-law does construction and is currently building a triplex in town. Every once and a while when I walk through the job-site there is a scrap piece of wood that sparks a craft idea. I wasn't very happy with my wood burning skills in this project but it was a good start.

The most fun was picking out a verse to put on it. I chose Genesis 1:26 which says; Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground". -Why? Because I am so excited to think about how God is making a little boy and future man in me out of His own likeness and image. God has a way of working through us, as imperfect as we are and creating things that are so beautiful. (He is the ultimate crafter!) I feel honored to have a son and I  pray I can parent in a way that he will be a kind, fair and respectful leader.

Now that we have moved, I can start working on my nursery! So far this room has only cost me $8.00 thanks to the Dollar Tree in Dallas. One of my favorite parts are the three pictures hanging on the wall above the bassinet. These pictures were originally gift bags that I thought would be perfect. I struggled to find three matching frames, that were less than $30.00 and the right dimensions so instead I flipped over a blank canvas that I had in the closet (you can also find them at Walmart in pairs) and stapled the string from the bag to the top to hang it. I love the natural wood look and the fit was perfect!

Throw back to Pregnancy #1

We have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first son, Easton, for the past seven months. This adventure has been wonderful and exciting from the get-go! Here is a little synapses of our journey!

Painting for Easton Alden

Easton's middle name is Alden. John Alden was the navel architect of the May Flower- which is why you may be familiar with the Alden sailboat brand common today. Until we win the lottery, we won't be gifting him one of these beautiful voyagers for oceanic travels, however, I wanted to give him something with similar sentiment. (Aside from a inner tube and toy boat of course). Tah-dah. *WARNING* not made for flotation purposes. More Artwork
