Brats in Beer



Today is a day for bratwurst if I ever knew one. While I am using a slow cooker recipe, Cody is firing up the grill. We will see what we prefer....

A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, especially when the end results are sizzling savory juices exploding from within the crispy outside skin of a thick, meaty, bratwurst. My husband was Team Grill and yours truly headed Team Crock Pot. The odds were against me, I know. Team Grill took an unfortunate turn for the 'wurst' when Cody mistakenly turned the dial to high, rather than off, and transformed his brats to burnt bricks. And so it happened that Team Crock Pot came to the rescue, supplying four tender and delicious brats, slow cooked in Henry Weinhards, for our supper. Oh the sweet taste of victory!

An Updated Update

Excitement and terror. Those two feelings were playing a heated game of Tug o’ war on my uncertain state of mind. Then, they met up with thankfulness and guilt, for a round of doubles. We were leaving the NICU. Why the battle of emotions? Here is the current update on Annette, Charlotte, and the rest of us Prescotts.  No more goodbyes and counting the days until we will see the boys next; this week we got to go home! It happened so fast. During the weekend we trained how to insert and maintain Charlotte's NG tube on our own, and then, badda-bing, badda-boom, we were discharged! We gathered our belongings and walked straight out the door with baby girls in tow, just as I had imagined it from inside alcove #3553, for 47 days. It would have been all sunshine and roses too, if not for the previous day. The baby didn't make it.
